Over summer break, I traveled to the east coast to compete in multiple different sailing races. I also went to Catalina island with my friends. This year, I am excited to work on the JPL competition project in class. I am also excited to continue sailing for the school team, as this will be my last year as team captain.

- Recently in class, we have been working in teams to come up with a design for the JPL design challenge. Overall, I feel like our group works well together, as we are all able to bring different skills and strengths to the group. For example, some people in the group are really good at visualizing and producing ideas, while others are good at expressing the concepts artistically through detailed drawings. This diverse skillset in our group allows us to be efficient. Despite our efficiency, there are times when I feel that some of the group members aren't contributing enough. It has also been difficult for us to solidify our design because of the change in the rules of this challenge.
- My life recently has been very busy. Along with hard classes and 26 college applications to complete, I also have a complex sailing schedule. Last weekend I was up in Monterey for a two day high school sailing regatta. Though the ocean conditions were unfavorable, the Samo sailing team managed to place 3rd out of 60 schools in California. It was good to see the team's early season training pay off, and I am happy our team had a strong start to the season.

- Though many of the designs in the 2023 SEAOSC Gingerbread Challenge were quite impressive, I liked "Santa's Surf Shack" most because I like the beach-oriented theme. I like to surf in the winter, and this reminds me of surfing. My second favorite design was the "Hogwarts Castle" themed design, as it accurately modeled a castle found in the Harry Potter series. If I were to build my own gingerbread structure design, I would attempt to build the Burj Khalifa. This is because I think it would be funny to see such a tall and skinny structure to be made of gingerbread. I would include minimal frosting, as it would negatively impact the structural integrity of the build.
